Weekly Photography Assignment: Birds
Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our two favourites to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to force yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 34: Birds
Our theme this week is Birds. Celebrate our feathered friends. Try photographing birds in flight, behavioural sequences, ducks on a lake… anything! Just make it creative and more than just a “snap”. For some guidance, have a read of the following tutorials:

Last Week’s Favourites
Here are our favourite shots from last week’s theme: Water! You can view all the entries here.
This week’s chosen favourite is a lake, at what appears to be dawn, by Josef. The blue tones of the image are created with a good choice of white balance, reflecting the early hour. The added details in the sky compliment it nicely, and the longer shutter speed has introduced a nice blur into the clouds. I would suggest a different composition next time, as the 50:50 split between land and sky is less pleasing to the eye than a rule of thirds style shot. I would suggest a lower angle perhaps, nearer the water’s level, to aid this adjustment. Thanks!
