Weekly Photography Assignment: Signs of Summer

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 180: Signs of Summer

Our theme this week is Signs of Summer, and we’d love to see what creative nature photographs you can create showcasing the emerging signs of summer! There is an abundance of life during the summer months, and this week we’d like to encourage you to look for signs withing nature – big or small – that show this season has arrived. If you live in the southern hemisphere and it isn’t summer for you, look for things in nature that remind you of summer instead! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or a total newbie, the options are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring nature photos you can create that capture and celebrate the arrival of this sunny season.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was A New Perspective  – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Eldrik Ajiyi of ‘A damselfly is perched on a leaf. Its shadow is cast on the leaf from above, creating a new perspective of a classic subject.‘ We love the creative use of perspective in this image. Looking at a subject from underneath is a great way to create an engaging and unique image, and the shadows created in this particular shot are also highly effective – switching up the normal ideas of perspective and making the viewer feel smaller than an insect! Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
