Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our two favourites to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to force yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 6: Composition

Our theme this week is Composition. I want to see how creative you can be with your camera when it comes to framing and composing your images. This is a chance for you to try out some of the common ‘rules’ to composition, or think outside the box! Maybe even a bit of both.

I really like the use of a long shutter speed (I assume I am right, and that this isn’t just ice!) to give a completely flat surface to the water. The colours in the sky are reflected beautifully, contrasting really nicely with the white of the surrounding. I also like the composition, with a foreground element and curve of the peninsula leading your eye into the image.

Zachi’s quick reactions captured this bear splashing through the water, freezing each droplet with a quick shutter speed. There’s bags of action in this image, and who doesn’t like a bear!
