Week 270: Black and White

Our theme this week is Black and White, and we’d love to see how you can capture nature in black and white on camera. The options for black and white nature images are plentiful. This week, look for light and shadow, as well as contrast in the scenes around you. Consider which compositions might look best in black and white. You may choose to shoot in black and white originally, or to convert your images after. Perhaps you will photograph a dark and moody landscape, or try for a high key image of wildlife in your garden. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting nature photos are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Creative Landscapes – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Pam Mullins.

This is a beautifully composed image, crafted with creative flare to reimagine a familiar scene. The decision to create a sunstar works especially well in the echoed reflection beneath the sky, and the radiating lines of light draw our eye outwardly through the frame. A creative construction of light in the landscape! Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
