Weekly Photography Assignment: Urban Nature

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 212: Urban Nature

Our theme this week is Urban Nature, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of nature found in urban spaces. Look for plants creeping in through pavement, or insects found around your house. Show us what wildlife you can find in your city, town, or even on your street! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for creative urban nature photos are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Here are some tutorials to help you:

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Black and White Landscape  Photography – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by B B: “Hundreds of Canada Geese descend on a small lake on this foggy morning.” We love the moody atmosphere of this image, and the careful construction of the composition to incorperate the rule of thirds. The effective balance of water/ground, against misty trees, against sky creates a very inviting frame. The birds in flight add interest to the upper half of the image, inviting our eye in to admire the whole scene. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
