Weekly Photography Assignment: Trees

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 232: Trees
Our theme this week is Trees, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of trees and forests! Trees are a common source of inspiration for photographers around the world. This week, venture out to look for trees in interesting settings, and think about how you might create unique images of them. Perhaps you will try to get low or see them from a new perspective, or experiment with intentional camera movement. Maybe you will try to photograph trees at night, or focus on wildlife or insects that rely on trees. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for awesome tree photographs are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Water – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by Aarthi Lingala: This is a lovely image. It has worked very well to fill the frame with water; the effect is highly immersive and pulls us into the image. The shallow depth of field softens the scene, and creates a sense of movement in the water. The offset pelican also draws our eye across the composition. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
