Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 205: Signs of Winter

Our theme this week is Signs of Winter, and we’d love to see what images you can create showing the coming of the cooler months. There are signs emerging everywhere of this encroaching season if we’re willing to go look for them! Perhaps you will photograph frost in the morning, or use a macro lens to capture the patterns in a pond that has frozen over. You might decide to look for wildlife preparing for winter, or you may even already have the chance to photograph nature in the snow! If it’s not winter time for you now, have a look for things in your local area that remind you of winter! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or a total newbie, the options for photos of the signs of this season are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Last week’s theme was Detail – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Hadassah Davis: ‘Winter’s frequent visitor to my backyard.’ We love the expression and character of the subject of this image, and the extreme sharpness and detail captured in the delicate, intricate feathers of this bird. The depth of field, allowing for a blurred background, draws our eye to the center of the frame, and invites us to notice the details of the bird. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
