Week 271: Signs of Spring

Our theme this week is Signs of Spring, and we’d love to see how you can capture the first signs of this delightful season on camera. Perhaps you will photograph songbirds in the morning, or find the earliest wildflowers as they begin to emerge. Maybe you will look for insects, or other macro subjects that tell us warmer weather is on the way. If it isn’t spring where you are, look for things that remind you of spring! Fell free to use what’s in your garden, to to travel further afield. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting nature photos in sprintime are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Black and White – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Flynn Thaitanunde-Lobb of a swan swimming in the river.

This image displays a wonderful use of contrast that helps to enhance the majestic nature of the subject; the swan seems to glow, as does its shimmering reflection, against the dark background. A clever use of light that showcases how black and white techniques in nature photography can be used to bring out the very best in your subject, even when it is a familiar one! Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
