Week 278: Mammals
Our theme this week is mammals, and we’d love to see how you can capture mammals in nature on camera. Mammals make fascinating photography subjects, and they can be found everywhere in nature. They come in so many shapes and sizes; perhaps you will photograph a deer or fox in your garden, or look for squirrels to photograph in your local park. Mammals can make particularly great portrait subjects, so think about how you might capture the spirit of the animal you are photography on camera. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting photos of nature details are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Birds – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by Omar Carax. “Captured on the threshold of maturity, this hummingbird is in a magical moment of transformation. Its once simple plumage is now filled with vibrant colors, heralding its arrival into adulthood. Each feather is a canvas, painted in nature’s most vivid hues. On his perch, he watches the world with curious eyes and wings ready to fly. This is the journey of a hummingbird, a dance of color and growth.”
This stunning bird portrait captures the true essence of the species in question. The colours used in this composition compliment eachother well and greatly enhance the scene. The off-centre framing of the subject is engaging and characterful, and draws our eye into the frame. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
