Weekly Photography Assignment: Golden Hour
Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favouritebe featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 254: Golden Hour
Our theme this week is Golden Hour, and we’d love to see what fantastic nature photos you can take at this beautiful time of day! We encourage you to head out into nature in the early hours of the morning or right as sunset begins, whe the light is golden. This a fantastic time for nature photography in all genres. Perhaps you will use backlighting techniques on your favourite wildlife subjects. Maybe you will create a sunflare between trees in a landscape image. Perhaps you will use rim lighting on tiny macro or plant life. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting photos at golden hour are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Garden Wildlife – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by B B of ‘an Anna’s hummingbird who doesn’t seem to mind the rain, guarding the feeder nearby.’ We love the composition in this lovely garden bird image. The subject has been captured in a unique, contemplative position, and the choice to position it off-centre is highly successful and engaging. The decision also to allow for some movement in the rainfall creates a real sense of mood and atmosphere.
Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
