Weekly Photography Assignment: Freestyle

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our two favourites to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to force yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 73: Freestyle

Our theme this week is Freestyle. This week there is no theme – other than the confines of “nature photography” – so head out with your camera and see what you can find! The most creative and technically sound photos are going to win this theme.

Submit Your Photo

To enter your photo to this assignment, add it in the comments below this post. By submitting your photo, you are giving us permission to feature your photo the following week if it is chosen as one of our favourites.

Last Week’s Favourites

Here is our favourite from last week’s theme, Snow. You can view all the entries here.

This effect is always a winner with me. I love the soft foreground, losing the crow into the white surroundings. I think it works particularly well with a dark subject like this corvid, balancing the white background out very nicely.

Whenever the snow starts to fall, mountain hares are one animal that I love to try and photograph. Gordon’s shot is magical, with the hare backlit running across the frame and snow swirling around it. I love the lighting, and I also love how the hare is running side on to the viewer (rather than running away). Great moment that can’t have been easy to catch.

Good luck!
