Week 277: Birds

Our theme this week is Birds, and we’d love to see how you can capture birds out in nature. Bird photography is a popular genre in the nature photography field, not least because birds can usually be found pretty much everywhere you look! This week, experiment with your bird photography. Perhaps you will capture an unusual bird portrait, or photograph a bird in flight. Maybe you will focus on the details of a bird, such as its eyes, or feathers. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting photos of birds are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Details – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Flynn Thaitanunde-Lob: ‘Two oysters wrapped around a large stone washed up on a beach.’

This is a very well composed image, which showcases and interesting and unusual detail of nature. The use of perspective is highly effective, placing us in line with the subject and helping to give it a new sense of scale. The bokeh effect produced in the background of the scene is flattering, and compliments the overall tones of the image nicely. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
