Weekly Photography Assignment: Macro

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 172: Macro

Our theme this week is Macro and we’d love to see what striking close up nature photos you can create! Macro images give us a chance to get up close and personal with nature, so this week you task is to look down, and look closely for interesting new macro subjects! Perhaps you will focus on the center of a flower, or dewdrops on leaves in the morning, or go for something more abstract, like the patterns found in the bark of trees. Or you might catch an awesome portrait of an insect… the options are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring macro nature photos you can create.

Here are some tutorials to help you:

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Black and White – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by YitzPix of ‘Snowdrops in the Dark.’ We love the way that black and white has been used to maximum effect in this image, by contrasting a light subject with a dark background. Our eye is drawn straight into our subject effectively and the composition on the right third of the image makes for an aesthetically pleasing shot! Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
