Weekly Photography Assignment: Garden Nature

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 253: Garden Nature

Our theme this week is Garden Nature, and we’d love to see what fantastic nature photos you can take featuring the wild wonders found in your back garden! We encourage you to look at the nature around you in new ways this week. Will you focus on photographing garden birds that come to visit your feeder? Or perhaps you’ll look for squirrels hiding in your trees. Maybe you’ll look for insects in and amongst any garden plants you have, or choose to focus on the plants themselves. Wherever you live, there’s bound to be some kind of nature to be found on your doorstep! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting photos of garden nature are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

This week’s winner is this image, captured by C. P. C. of ‘A drooping Centaurea (cornflower; bachelor’s button) with more emphasis on the stem and bract than the flower.’ Here is a unique, interesting and engaging perspective in an image of a beautiful subject! This photo has captured the unique essence of its subject in this image, choosing to highlight the details that one might otherwise forget to notice. The depth of field has been utilised creatively and to great effect. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
