Weekly Photography Assignment: Details

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Introducing our new Monthly Assignment Winner!

From these weekly favourites, each month we will select one exceptional image, crowning the photographer as the Monthly Assignment Winner. This talented photographer’s captivating image will be shared on our Instagram story and in our newsletter.

Remember to include your Instagram handle in each weekly entry for a chance to be featured!

Week 266: Details

Our theme this week is Details, and we’d love to see how you can photograph the smaller details found in nature. You can use a macro lens if you chose, or simply tune your eye in to looking for the tiny things in nature that catch your eye. Perhaps you will photograph the veins in a leaf, or the bark of a tree. Maybe you will find dewdrops on a flower, or look for tiny insects hidden in your garden. Perhaps you will focus in on the specific details of your favrouite wildlife, and photograph a single feather, or an eye, or a foot. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting photos of details in nature are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Trees – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Flynn Thaitanunde-Lobb: ‘I tried practicing taking trees from the ground angle up into the sky. The tree was leafless and knarly, which gave it a “spooky” feeling, with tree trunks branching out like fingers.’

This is fascinating and engaging image, taken from a new perspective of a familiar subject. It has showcased the brief in a new and exciting way! The leading lines draw our eye across the frame, and the depth of field gives us plenty to focus on throughout the frame. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
