Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 291: Birds

Our theme this week is Birds, and we’d love to see what amazing bird photos you can take! There are so many exciting ways to create new and engaing images of these charismatic animals. This week, practice looking for interesting ways to frame your favourite birds, either in your garden or your local wild spaces. Maybe you will capture bird behaviour, or try to freeze a moment of a bird in flight with a fast shutter speed. Perhaps you’ll photograph wading birds at the water’s edge, or create a beautiful portrait of a bird of prey. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for great bird photos are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Please keep images under 2MB in size otherwise you may have difficulty uploading them.

Last week’s theme was Perspective – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Flynn Thaitanunde-Lobb: ‘Housefly perching on a leaf in the garden’.

This image cleverly isolates a common housefly from its background, giving us a unique look at an often-overlooked species. The great use of colour contrast also helps to bring the viewer’s focus to the housefly. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
