Canon Changes Its Web Address to global.canon

Canon has made the unusual move of ditching its “.com” domain (canon.com) and replacing it with a new website address: global.canon.

There has been a recent release of a variety of website domain extensions (gTLDs), including the likes of .photo and .photography. However, the “.canon” extension is reserved exclusively for the Canon Group. Originally having acquired the extension in 2015, we are seeing it put into action only now.

Canon said, “We will begin gradually introducing “global.canon” to provide information to a global audience with a new online presence.”

“Users of “.canon” sites can be assured that the information they are receiving is reliable.”
