Weekly Photography Assignment: Mammals

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 227: Mammals
Our theme this week is Mammals, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of mammals found in nature. Mammals can be seen everywhere in the natural world, and they make up some of the world’s favourite wildlife species. This week we encourage you to look for mammals in your local area. Perhaps you will photograph a fox in your garden, or a badger in a meadow. Maybe you’ll head out early in the morning to see deer in a local field, or squirrels in your favoruite park. Try to capture the spirit and personality of the animal you’re photographing. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for nature photos of mammals are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Contrast – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by B B: ‘Trying my hand at Low-key photography.
Two Trumpeter Swans approach each other creating symmetry.’ We love the use of black and white in this image as it really highlights the contrasting elements. The swans stand out beautifully against a black backdrop, and the decision to only allow one swan to be in focus creates a fascinating ‘mirror image’ style effect. The fine art effect created here is a celebration of what is possible when composing an image with contrast in mind! Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
