Weekly Photography Assignment: Gardens

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 217: Gardens
Our theme this week is Gardens, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of nature found in gardens. Gardens are a wonderful environment to find and photograph many aspects of nature. You may choose to look in your own garden, or to go out and visit a bigger one and see what creative images you can come up. Perhaps you will focus your attention on flowers and other plants. Maybe you will look for insects with your macro lens. Or maybe you will hang around until dusk to see what wildlife or birdlife emerges! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for awesome garden nature photos are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Nighttime – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by B B: “Finally at 2am I had a clear view of the milky way. I don’t do it justice, as I am still learning to process the night sky. But this night the Milky Way was the most visible I’ve seen all year. I think it was worth staying up late for it.” We love the decision to use a vertical format to capture the length of the milky way in this image. The dark shadows of the trees in the foreground draw us in, and invite our eyes upwards to appreciate the stars! A beautiful capture. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
