This image took a little planning and a lot of luck. The semi-arid Karoo region of South Africa is prone to thunderstorms in the summer months. I saw some lightning in the distance and drove off in its direction in hopes of capturing some on camera. The storm was moving in my direction, so when I reached this windmill I stopped and waited a few minutes. Normally in these situations, it can take quite a few shots to get a decent result. However, this evening luck was on my side, as lightning struck right behind the windmill after I set up my camera. I took a total of 4 images before it started raining again and returned home a happy photographer.
