Wildlife Photography Internship, South Africa

Wildlife Photography Internship, South Africa

Do you dream of becoming a wildlife photographer but you’re not sure how to get started? Or are you passionate about photography in general and are looking for an exciting challenge? This wildlife photography internship in South Africa could be the perfect opportunity for you. It’s a chance to photograph a wealth of animals on a daily basis, to learn from a professional wildlife photographer, and to hone your skills.

You’ll be based in South Africa’s Greater Kruger area, where you’ll be encountering an impressive array of wildlife, including the African Big Five - lions, leopards, elephants and buffaloes - on a daily basis. You’ll go out on game drives at optimum times of day, when the light is at its best and the wildlife most active. Game drives will take place in private game reserves, where the game viewing is an exclusive experience.

On top of this, you are also going to get an understanding of conservation photography, and how it can promote wildlife conservation by assisting worthwhile conservation initiatives hands-on.

Expert wildlife photographer Samuel Cox will be guiding you throughout your internship, helping you sharpen your skills by providing advice on techniques, composition and post-production, and specific tricks and insights into photographing wildlife. He will be your mentor, and together you will set personal objectives for your experience and work towards them. You’ll also have weekly meetings with a personal development coach to check on your experience and help you take the most of it in the context of your future plans.

Your accommodation will be a lodge outside of Hoedspruit, on the edge of Kruger National Park. The place is a simple but comfortable thatched roof building with a number of common areas, such as a large pool and a dining space. You’ll have a shared room with other interns or conservation volunteers, but you also have the option of upgrading to a single room.

This internship is available throughout the year, and you can join for 8 to 12 weeks. Please get in touch to find out about availability. Anyone can apply! There are no specific requirements; you just have to be a huge wildlife photography passionate.
