Are you a wildlife photographer in the making? Our wildlife photography internship in the Amazon Rainforest might be the perfect opportunity for you. As a photography intern, you’ll have the chance to photograph the abundant wildlife in this lush rainforest, to sharpen your skills through personal tutoring, and to learn about working as a wildlife photographer.
The photographic opportunities during this wildlife photography internship are abundant; you can expect to encounter jaguars, tapirs, monkeys, multiple species of snakes, frogs and lizards, and – of course – lots of photographic creepy crawlies. You’ll be able to build up a rich portfolio of wildlife images and to sharpen your skills through professional guidance offered by an expert photographer. You’ll have a chance to learn as much as you like about the following:
- Close up photography
- Ultra-Macro Photography
- Camera trap operations to receive population density of the Rainforest
- Night photography (without the use of flash) - “Painting With Light”
- Videography techniques
- Video editing techniques
The program has a strong focus on nature conservation. Therefore, as an intern, you’ll understand how images can play a role in raising awareness on important matters. For instance, you will be able to partake in the video production for an Australian television series aired worldwide on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and Roku TV! This series is meant to spread environmental awareness on the issues affecting rainforests, particularly the deforestation the Amazon is subjected to because of logging, cattle farming, gold mining, etc.
Photographers of all levels are welcome on this photography internship, as you can learn at your own pace and design your own focus. We will regularly update a portfolio that groups together everyone’s photographs and blogs into a single large report, which will ultimately be published online to promote conservation.
This photography internship has weekly start dates, and we’re now open to applications for March 1st August 31st, both in 2021 and 2022.

Day 3 until the end of your internship: Your days will be full of walks through the rainforest seeking photographic inspiration helped by Mark’s photographic tutoring. Moreover, you’ll accompany biologists during their conservation programs.
At the end of your journey, you’ll reach Tambopata Hostel again to spend your last night. During dinner, you’ll be able to reflect on the experience you just concluded. The following day, we’ll drive you to the airport and catch a flight home.
