Winter (January & February) - Wildlife Photography

Where - In Northern Japan on the island of Hokkaido we will fly into Asahikawa city to drive around Biei, Tsurui and Rausu areas. Our drive will cover 600 km of prestine natural  environments.

Spring (April) - Landscape & Cultural Photography

Where - The urban jungle of neon Nippon begins in Tokyo then contrasts nicely around the five lakes of Mt Fuji followed by the treasures of Kyoto and Kanazawa. Ainokura is a Unesco Heritage listed village with 20 farmhouses where we will stay for our final night for a traditional experience.

What - Focusing on Cherry Blossoms, one of our five locations will give us the chance to photograph the many varieties of this wonderful flower. Using the various castles, temples, shrines and landscapes as our back drop, Spring will spark a love for the Japanese culture.

I did this tour with Alfonso in 2013 and has been one of my best experiences in a photo tour. Alfonso is not only a very experienced photographer but also an excellent and patient teacher with a very enjoyable personality. He definitely brings passion in what he does. On top of it he knows very well the Japanese culture and fluent in the language (being married to a Japanese surely helps).

I recently traveled to Japan with Alfonso for the Cherry Blossom Festival, I was in a small group of 4 photographers. His vast knowledge of each locations was very helpful, which gave us photographs we would not of got with other groups. In addition, his organizing of the whole trip was first class. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Alfonso and recommend others to join him for future trips to Japan

Really enjoyed my Japan Autumn tour with Alfonso. He took us to the best spots to photograph and experience the beauty color and light of Japan. I loved being out there on the streets and gardens, the food was great and the bullet trains fun.

Visiting Japan in winter time was an opportunity to practise minimalist photography without crowds of people. We also got to photograph an ice festival and a hot air ballon festival. Alfonso is fluent in Japanese so there were no communication problems. The luggage was efficiently picked up and delivered to our destinations as required. The variety of accommodations and restaurants let us experience some authentic Japanese culture and customs.

I took an Autumn Japan Photography Tour in 2017, the tour was excellent. Alfonso is a great travel companion, a skilled photographer, guide and interpreter. His knowledge of Japan, Japanese culture and Japanese language skills created photographic opportunities that I wouldn’t have had travelling independently.
The accommodation was a great standard, Alfonso always organised somewhere interesting to have dinner taking everyone’s tastes into account making the food one of the highlights of the trip.

I will definitely be taking another tour with him soon.

Highly recommended.

Absolutely loved travelling with Alfonso earlier this year to Japan. His knowledge of Japan and language is excellent. I loved that the group was small so we could really spend the time at each place, and even when we changed plans quickly, that was made easy too. He showed us a really genuine Japanese experience (food/accommodation etc) and I would definitely travel with Alfonso again.
